1. Horseshoe Canyon Ranch

Horseshoe Canyon Ranch is located in Jasper, Arkansas. This is a privately owned dude ranch that offers all types of accommodations. Whether you want to stay in a luxurious cabin or camp cheaply, you can do it all.

There are over 300 bolted routes on the ranch, as well as some trad options. This site is perfect for climbers of every level.

2. City of Rocks National Reserve

This national reserve is located in Malta, Idaho, which is in the south part of the state. Although it’s located in a rural area, this reserve offers pretty awesome rock climbing options; it has over 200 bolted routes. You’ll also get to see historic wagon trails.

If you’re planning on staying in the area for a bit and want to explore more, you can also go climbing in Castle Rocks State Park, which is nearby. Here, every level of climber can enjoy the park.

3. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Forget about Vegas and go to this national conservation area in Nevada instead. If you prefer to climb in the winter, this is the perfect spot to choose. There are over 700 sport routes of all levels, plus you can enjoy a beautiful 13-mile drive to the canyon.

4. Smith Rock State Park

For some climbing on the coast, try Smith Rock in Terrebonne, Oregon. With over 1,000 bolted routes, this area is easily one of the best places to go rock climbing in the US.

If you want to have an extended stay while climbing, you can with the park’s overnight camping. That way, you can conveniently rest when you want, then get back at climbing in a few minutes once you wake up!

5. Mount Rushmore National Memorial

Go rock climbing in one of the most prominent places in America. At Mount Rushmore National Memorial, you’ll see the iconic stone figures of our previous presidents. Not only that, but you’ll also find over 200 bolted routes and 150 trad routes.

You can also enjoy some sport climbing in the surrounding areas if you want some variety. Try Custer State Park for trad climbing and Mount Baldy for bouldering.
